In our modern, hyper-connected world, we often view “inner peace” as a luxury—something that requires a week-long retreat or an hour of silent meditation. At Zen Imago, we believe that mental stability is built in the small, quiet gaps of your day. This is the practice of Micro-Zen.
Micro-Zen is the radical act of reclaiming one minute of your life from the “hustle.” It is rooted in Affection toward yourself. When you are rushing between meetings or managing a household, your nervous system is often in a state of low-level “fight or flight.” By intentionally pausing for 60 seconds, you signal to your brain that you are safe.
The Practice: Next time you are waiting for your coffee to brew or sitting in your car before entering your home, try the “Box Breathing” technique. Inhale for four seconds, hold for four, exhale for four, and hold for four.
